Friday – 30th April 2010

Today was just a normal boring day in the life of Gordon. I of course went out for a cycle, but I only did 11.85 miles, for some unknowing reason I was not really in a cycling mood. So I mainly only went out, so I could say that I been out a cycle every Friday this month.

Once back from the cycle, I sorted out my lunch and eat it while watching stuff on my new Bravia 32-inch Widescreen TV.

In the evening, I was of course working at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, it was the busiest night I’ve ever done at the track. Since we had a special evening for Help for Heroes, which is a charity for the wounded in Britain’s current conflicts. No idea how much we raised, when I find out, I post about it, here. Also I think my first full week has bar supervisor has mainly gone well.

Sorry that I have been so bad at updating my blog so far this year… No idea why just not been in the mood for doing it. Anyway here is today’s main news…

First of all some news on stuff that I am doing in May. In late May it’s my parents 40th wedding anniversary, so I am going to up Scotland from a number of days, to see them. Also the family is getting together to go out for a meal. So it will be Mum, Dad, my two bothers Craig and Douglas and their girlfriends. It will be a bit weird, with me being the only single one their, oh well. 40 years a hell of a long time, I still remember their 25th anniversary and thinking that was long time. So when the meal does happen, I will make sure I post a blog about it 🙂

So now onto the other main news of the day. I started my “new” job at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, as the restaurant bar supervisor. I say “new” like that I since I first did that job from last October 2007. to January 2008 ish. I only did it for that long since my boss at the time, then changed her mind and said the restaurant did not need a bar supervisor, so I went back to my old job as a bar man. Thing is since then, I have really been doing that job anyway, just not been getting paid for it. So it’s great to get the job back, still got no idea what my extra pay will be. I do really need to ask about that 🙂

I think my first night back being the bar supervisor went well. They could not have picked a busier evening for to start my new job. I am sure if, I did not do a good job of it, my boss would soon let me know!

Thursday – 6th August 2009

Today Mike and myself had fun at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium doing a photo shoot for the Peterborough Evening Telegraph for a news article that should be going in tomorrows ET about the End to End cycle that we’re doing. While there we also did some telephone interviews with Lite FM and Peterborough’s Heart FM but we’re not too sure when they will get aired.

Monday – 22nd June 2009

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that in August, Mike and myself are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End, to raise money for the National Autistic Society. And were hoping to get some cycling jerseys made up for the cycle, with the End to End website URL on it and also the National Autistic Society logo. So I emailed the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, the place that I would, if they know of anyone that could get them made up for us. Since the only place we have found wants £150 for two cycling jerseys. I could not believe it, when they said don’t worry about the cost we will pay for it. If you put out logo on it, and say “sponsored by”. So that made my day!!!

In other news. In the evening, I went out a 30 mile cycle. I was on fire, I did the cycle in 1 hour, 53 minutes, 50 seconds, with a average speed of 15.9 mph. It was the first time, that I have used my new PBK Team Long Sleeve Skinsuit 2009, that I got from Probikekit.com for £71.24. It’s so tight, I think it helped me to cycle faster then normal.

Saturday – 17th December 2005

I was very happy when the post came. As I my Shimano M180 cycling shoes that I ordered from Chain Reaction Cycles only yesterday (Friday). They cost me £59.99, full price they would be £79.95, so I made a saving of 25%.

Then I got them out the box it take me a while, to work out how to open the bit where the yellow clips to get them on. I even looked at the manual. Yes they have a manual. I don’t think that I have ever had shoes before that have come with a manual.

Now I have them, I just have to think what pedals I am going to get for them.

Other then getting my new cycling shoes, it was a normal Saturday really. I of course chatted to my boyfriend Rob. And showed him my new shores, using my webcam. He thinks they look nice. He can’t wait to see me in them. And before you start, to worry Rob and myself don’t have a thing about shoes.

Then in the evening I was of course working at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium. I had a very busy night indeed. Anyone would think it’s getting near to Christmas :). They sold 113 bottles of wine coming to £1,252.25. Which meant a very busy night for me, since I am the one who looks after the wine. If you ask me, it’s better being busy. Then having nothing at all to do. It makes the night go so much faster.

Once I got back from work I chatted to my boyfriend Rob for a while. Before going off-line to watched Casualty, that I had recorded while I was at work. It was of course very good indeed. As it normally is.

Then after that I tuned off my PC and laptop for the night and went to bed at about 2:00am.

Saturday – 19th July 2003

In the morning I spend a while emailing the 34SP.com helpdesk, to ask them if they have any ideas why my new account with them is not working. They worked it out very fast. They said “The account was created on an incorrect IP address, and as such all requests for the domain where resolving to the wrong server.” But not that they have fixed it my website should start working in next 12 hours, but only time will tell.

In the afternoon I went a cycle into Stamford to get a Phono to Phono audio lend, so that I can connect my TV to my Dolby Prologic Surround system.

Then in the evening just like every Saturday evening I was working at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium. It was very busy, just like all Saturday nights are now.

Once I had finished work I went out to get a Pizza with some of the people that I work with.

I was very glad to get back home and into bed. Because it’s been a long day, but a good one.

Tuesday – 15th July 2003

I spend a number of hours in the back garden. We cut down a very, very big bush. I can’t believe now much better the place looks now it has been taking out. It also means that I am going to have great fun, burning it all, in next number of days.

Once I had done doing the gardening and had time to cool down a bit, I went a cycle to Stamford. I have now done over 980 miles on my cycle computer. So it looks like a will hit the 1000 mile mark, before going to Scotland next week.

Once I got back from Stamford, I made a quick meal, before going to work at the dogs. Lucky they have got all the problems sorted out with the tills. It was a bit of a boring nite, because not mainly people were in. But I know that Wednesday night, will more then make up for it.

When I got back from work I spoke to Matthew on-line for a while before going to bed. I could not believe just now hot my room was. Luckily I got to sleep in the end.

Friday – 11th July 2003

I went a cycle to Langtoft, it’s the first that I have cycled there in my life. But I know that I will be doing the cycle a lot more, from now on. Because it’s the village that Matthew stays in. I did not tell Matthew that I was going to cycle to see him. He looking very happy to see me. When I got there, he was outside washing his car. I was there for about 30 minutes before I had to cycle back home to get ready for work.

Work was not 2 bad. But they did have very big problems with the printer on the till at the bar, meaning that we did not get any orders coming though the printer. So we had to go back to the old way of doing things, in other words, back to writing down things by hand. Things got so bad at one point we even had Richard, one of the people who owns the place, taking drinks down.

I was glad to get back home. I just hope that things get better on Saturday night.
