March 2011 cycling statistics

Here are my cycling statistics for March. I now this month is still not fully over, I was really hoping to get out on the bike again one last time this month. It’s just so windy, it’s not going to happen. The wind speed is up 30 mph. I don’t really feel like getting blowing off my bike. It’s really pissed me off, since I really wanted to do another 34 miles, then I would have done 700 miles this month.

Here is the data from March 2011:-

  • Total cycles: 29
  • Total Distance: 666 miles
  • Total Time: 50:07:28 (h:m:s)
  • Avg Speed: 12.9 mph
  • Max Time: 4:30:57 (h:m:s)
  • Max Speed: 33.9 mph
  • Avg Distance: 23.11 miles
  • Max Distance: 60.10 miles

Longest cycle so far this year (60 miles)…

This is where I should really say I did my 4th weekly shopping in a two using my bike… but no, I was bad boy and used my car. Also did it on Sunday… But now looking at it, it worked out for the best or I would not have done  the 60 mile cycle that I did 🙂

Think it may we one of the longest, if not the longest single day cycle, I have done since the End 2 End cycle, but I would need to check all my cycling data, to be fully sure. But one thing I do know for sure, it’s the most miles I have done in a single but, if I don’t count August 2009, when I did the End 2 End cycle. If the weather plays nice, may end my miles up to 700 before the month is out! So that’s my next goal…

Here are the statistics from the cycle:-

  • Time: 4:30:57 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.3 mph.
  • Max Speed: 30 mph.
  • Calories: 2,719.
  • Elevation Gain: 492 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 486 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 31 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 161 metres.

Had a great day cycling with a mate

Today I met up with a friend that I have been chatting to on the net for year and years… But till today, never got around to meeting up. It was great to get to meet you at long last Mark.

While he was here, both both had good look around Stamford. When he first got here, we went to Marks & Spencer to get some food. Then after that we went cycle to Burghley House. Then we cycled to Tallington to watch some train go nice on the ECML. Then after that we did some more cycling around the place. Before cycling back to Stamford, where we stopped at The Tobie Norris, we were hopping to get there, but did not start food service till 6pm. So we just had a nice drink and chat there, before going to Ask, which was lucky doing food. Big thanks to Mark, for picking up the bill. I will make sure I pay the next time. Then after the meal, we cycled around for a bit longer before he got the train back down to London town. So thanks once again to Mark for a fun filled day.

If you want to see the full cycle we did. Here is the map from the cycle :).

Adding GPS data to photos…

I have just found some very good software called free GeoSetter that lets you add GPS data to photos.  If you think what is the point of that, then check out www.gordon-valentine.com/zenphoto/me/2011/p3080169.jpg.html and you will see a google map under the photo, showing where it was taken. So far only done three photos, but over time I will do more and more… The first set, I will be doing is all the ones taken during the 2009 End2End cycle.

Longest cycle so far this year (40 miles)…

Well pleased with myself, just done my first 40 mile cycle of the year. I was aiming to do 40 miles on Sunday, but I paused my GPS to go into a shop, but forgot to restart it. So I was not fully sure how many miles I had done, so by the time I had added on the section, the GPS did not have the data for, I was short by just 1.11 miles.

So I had to make up for it…. Now my next goal is a 50 mile cycle before the month is out :).

Cycle statistics:-

  • Time: 3:05:12 (h:m:s).
  • Distance: 40.18 miles.
  • Calories: 1,802.
  • Avg Speed: 13.0 mph.
  • Max Speed: 29.3 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 359 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 44 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 165 metres.

February 2011 cycling statistics

Yes I know that February is still not over, but the weather is so bad today, it may as well be :(.

I was hoping to do more miles than I did. But the weather and some other things going on in my personal life, put a stop to that. But I am still sure I will get to the planned 1,000 mile mark by April 🙂

Sunday – 7th November 2010

I went a fun cycle with my friends Ashley and Rich. We cycled from Peterborough to Huntingdon covering a distance of 46.35 miles. The cycle took us 3:31:52 (h:m:s). It was great fun, makes a change getting to cycle with people, since most times I cycle by myself.
