First wetsuit cycle since May 2012

Since it had been pissing it down all day, I made up my mind to make the most of it. So I put on my blueseventy axium wetsuit and went out a cycle. Below are some photos I took during the cycle :).

One of the most influential cycling blogs (July 2012)

Just to think I was happy in June when this website was 8 out of 20 in the “The most influential blogs Cycling – Sort by influence”. This month it’s jumped up to number 6!! Don’t believe me then check out labs.ebuzzing.co.uk/top-blogs/cycling.

Just noticed that this website is showing up in the “The most influential blogs Cycling – Sort by influence”. Right now it’s showing at number 8 out of 20! Don’t believe me then check out labs.ebuzzing.co.uk/top-blogs/cycling.

Guess, I better start posting even more cycling related stuff to see, if I get it any higher!

My newest cycling gear

I am sure you will have read a number of days back I ordered myself some new cycling pants from ChainReactionCycles.com well they are here. I really like them so far and no idea why I think they also look sexy on :).

Here are some photos of myself wearing them. I took the second photo, just to show I am still wearing my sexy lycra cycling shorts under them.

Great Ponton loop cycle

Well pleased with myself just done the longest cycle of the month so far. I did a grand total of 28.06 miles. Also set my fastest speed of the month. My average was the slowest of the year so far. Then it was the cycle with the most hills, so far this year. So I guess my legs are still getting use to hills again. And to person that asked if I am going slower due to putting on weight at Christmas. No that’s not the case at all. I always go slower in winter.

I will leave you with cycling statistics from the Great Ponton loop cycle.

  • Distance: 28.06 miles
  • Time: 2:17:33 (h:m:s)
  • Avg Speed: 12.2 mph
  • Max Speed: 29.2 mph
  • Elevation Gain: 294 meters

Cycle goals for 2012

Last year my main cycling goal was to do 5,000 miles. Which I am pleased to say I did. This year I have set myself lots of smaller goals.

Here is a list of them. I am sure this list will just grow and grow.

  • Cycle at least 4,500 miles this year.
  • Do at least two 100 mile bike rides.
  • Aim for a 125 mile one.
  • Set off on a cycle every hour between 9am and 11pm.
  • Beat every months longest cycle, that I set last year.
  • Do the Rest and Be Thankful road (A83) in Scotland.

If you have set any cycling goals this year, I would love to hear about them. Add your comments to this post PLEASE :).

One day into December and set a new record

We’re just one day into December and I have set a new record for the longest cycle I have ever done in December. It was only 29.26 mile’s which during the summer would be nothing at all. During the winter, the cold always stops me from doing so many mile’s and so does the lack of day light. Since it gets dark right now before 4pm.

I have also now done the second most miles, I have ever done in December. Only need to do another 28.2 miles to bet last years record.

Killearn to Loch Arklet cycle

Another day, another cycle blog. Think this will be the last cycle I get to do in Scotland, before going back to home to England on Monday. I am well pleased with myself, I got in four cycles this trip. Done the most miles I have done in Scotland, since August 2009. Been on lots of roads, I have never cycled on before in my life.

So now on with today’s cycle. For the first section of the cycle, I followed much of the same route as the Duke’s Pass cycle, that I did on Sunday 11th October. But instead of following the National Cycle Network (route 7), I turned onto the B829 (Lochard Road).

Then I followed that road, all the way up to Loch Arklet. When I set off I was hoping to make it all the way to Inversnaid, but I had to turn around at Loch Arklet, if I had kept on going. There was no way, I would have made it home before it got dark.

I don’t think I could have picked, a better place to turn around. Check out the view yourself using Google Steetview to see what I mean! Here is the URL for the the view  to save yourself for having to find it: g.co/maps/fnt4h.

And before I leave you will the normal stuff. Here are some interesting statistics for you. In just four cycles, my elevation gain stands at 2,196 metres or 1.36 miles. It’s also like cycling one and a half times the height of Ben Nevis.

Photos from the cycle:-

Sorry I only got three photos during the cycle. It was pissing it down most of the time. I did not want to get the camera any wetter than I had to.
