Members of a remote community in the village of Lochinver set out to revive the much-loved tradition of the Assynt Highland Games for the first time in three years. The team at Dunnet Bay Distillery, on the northern section of the route, are expanding their vodka range, while Highland ranger Connaire restores a flooded pathway beside the spectacular Loch Maree, part of the Ben Eighe National Nature Reserve.

Whitby distillers Jess and Luke are creating their latest tipple from tasty foraged seaside ingredients. In Scarborough, pioneering sea-farmer Wave checks out his seaweed harvest of sugar kelp, while newbie hoteliers Steph and Luke prepare for the busiest weekend of the summer season. Down the coast in Filey, military vehicle restorer Duncan preps his Second World War American Jeep for parade duty.

Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams (BBC 1/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Tuesday 13th August 2024)

After transforming the lives of a group of teenage boys and a cricket club in his hometown of Preston, former England captain and TV presenter Freddie Flintoff takes his team on a cricket tour in one of the most revered cricketing nations in the world, India. Originally planned for 2022, the trip was put on hold after a life-changing accident that threatened to put a halt to the team’s dreams.

In Brampton, Michelin starred chef Hrishikesh Desai reinvents his menu and cooks up a masterpiece with ingredients from his garden. A community in Haweswater comes together to reintroduce endangered water voles into the Cumbrian landscape for the first time in decades. Plus, off the coast of Walney Island, locals Amy and Jack set sail for lobster.

Broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy, actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, radio host Scott Mills and his husband Sam and broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy embark on a race from the Amazon rainforest to the Andes. They leave behind their lavish lifestyles and rely on just a map and a limited budget to get them through the 12,500km journey.

Barry Island. Series 7, episode 7. The presenter is in Barry Island, south Wales, made famous by the sitcom Gavin and Stacey. On the promenade Susan meets a gathering of camper vans, known collectively as Barryfornia. She also stops for a chat and gets a few tips for when she’s next on the road with her own beloved vehicle. Later, Susan has a look around the elegant B&B, Gileston Manor.

Meanwhile, Highland warden Chaz Powell is tackling his first season, and Highland potter David Grant is working on a new commission using a radical technique.

Ruislip Depot. Series 4, episode 6. Tim Dunn and Siddy Holloway explore the maintenance depot at the end of the Central Line, responsible for keeping the entire tube running.

The newest manager of Muncaster Castle is 33-year-old Ewan Frost Pennington, who has a plan to diversify by opening the doors to rooms previously shut to the public and offering exclusive stays. In Kendal, Harry Jackson has been specially commissioned to create 70kgs of fresh butter every week for a local deli, so they can create their famous flakey croissants.

Eastbourne. Series 7, episode 6. The comedian visits Eastbourne on the southeast coast, beginning at the beautiful golden pier. There’s fun in the amusements, and the Victorian Tea Rooms is a bustling spot for a traditional afternoon tea. She’s then off to Sovereign Harbour for a boat trip to the iconic chalk sea cliff of Beachy Head, the highest in the UK.

In Appleby-in-Westmorland, it’s milking time for Harriet and Chris McPhee’s 300 goats, but Harriett plans to turn today’s milk into cheese. The 8th custodian of the Lowther Castle, Jim Lowther, has commissioned local stone mason James Lightfoot to save the building from turning to rubble. In Cartmel, the village comes together to celebrate its rich, medieval heritage.

Lyme Regis. Series 7, episode 5. The comedian explores Britain’s best-loved seaside resorts, beginning with Lyme Regis on the south coast, starting at historic harbour, the Cobb. From here she makes her way along the jetty bumping into a group preparing for a game of water polo in the sea. Lyme Regis is on Dorset’s Jurassic coast, and on Monmouth beach Susan meets chef and forager Harriet who shows her a locally sourced twist to accompany classic seaside favourite, fish and chips.
