RIP East Coast Trains 2009 – 2015. You were the best railway franchise in the UK. It’s all down hill from now on. Since Virgin have taken over running of the ECML. It will be like National Express all over again!
So from today, the trains will start turning Virgin Red. We’re going to lose the great colour of East Coast Trains. See some photos below!

During my drive on the way back from Scotland. I stopped off at the Kirkby Stephen railway station, which is on The Settle-Carlisle Railway line. Which is on my list of railway lines to do to in the UK.

Here are photo’s from day 1 of our tour of Scotland. When we got the 12:09pm East Coast train service was Peterborough to York. Then we got the “Highland Chieftain” East Coast service from York at 1:52pm. which got us into Inverness at just after 8:00pm.
Got to say I loved the route from Edinburgh Waverley to Inverness. First time in my live I have used that part of the UK rail network.
Also got to say that Cooper was very good indeed on the train! Yes we to0k the dog with us!

I had a great afternoon at the Great Central Railway. Only had the time to from Loughborough Central station to Quorn & Woodhouse station. Then we walked back to Loughborough Central station with the dog to where, we parked the car.
Lucky the dog, did mind being on the train at all. So next time, we go. We can do more of the line :).
