Abandoned Railways from Above (Channel 4/HD | 7:10pm to 8:10pm | Saturday 26th October 2024) ** PICK OF THE WEEK **

Scotland. Series 1, episode 6. An abandoned line in the Scottish Borders that connected communities between Carlisle and Edinburgh, and includes what was once the largest factory in the world. The episode features celebrations of the re-opening of part of the line, from Tweedbank into Edinburgh. The final stop before Edinburgh’s Waverley station is the Lady Victoria Colliery, once Scotland’s deepest coal mine.

This opening edition charts the launch of Homewards, shadowing Prince William and his team as they explore solutions to the crisis.

The Prince checks in with his Homewards team across the UK, he draws on the guidance of people with experience of homelessness, and speaks with youngsters who are affected. Prince William also unveils plans to build an ambitious supported housing project on his own land in Cornwall.
