UK TV programmes to watch this week : 06/07/2024

MOTD Live: UEFA Euro 2024 (BBC 1/HD | 4:00pm to 7:30pm | Saturday 6th July 2024) ** PICK OF THE WEEK **

England v Switzerland (Kick-off 5.00pm). Coverage of the third quarter-final, held at Dusseldorf Arena. After topping a group containing Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia, England were on the brink of a shock last-16 defeat at the hands of Slovakia, but Jude Bellingham scored a spectacular overhead kick in injury-time, before Harry Kane headed home in extra time to give them a 2-1 win. However, they are likely to need an improved display if they are to defeat the Swiss, who came second in their group behind Germany and above Hungary and Scotland, before producing an excellent display to eliminate holders Italy with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals by Remo Freuler and Ruben Vargas.

Guy Martin and the Lost WW2 Bomber (Channel 4/HD | 9:00pm to 10:30pm | Sunday 7th July 2024)

In the most ambitious engineering project he’s ever taken part in, Guy Martin helps to recover a crashed Second World War Lancaster bomber – and the remains of its missing crew members – from the depths of a Dutch lake where it’s been submerged for 80 years. Guy helps build a massive dam around the crash site at Lake IJssel, then drains it to reveal the aircraft. He joins the expert team as its members recover Pathfinder Lancaster ED603 piece by piece.

Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Thursday 11th July 2024)

Nottinghamshire. Series 7, episode 2. In historic Nottinghamshire, Susan hears tales of superheroes, explores mysterious caves, lets off steam in a wondrous example of Victorian invention, and walks in the footsteps of ice skaters Torvill and Dean. The comedian also meets a Robin Hood enthusiast, flexes her fingers at an archery contest, and takes in Newstead Abbey, Lord Byron’s ancestral home.
