Gregg Wallace goes behind the scenes at a factory in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, where London’s famous red double-decker buses are built, finding out what goes into making the electric model. Cherry Healey visits a factory where she gets to grips with the construction of tough laminated heated windscreens for buses, while historian Ruth Goodman learns about London’s earliest double deckers and the vital role they played in the First World War.

Tom Daley: Illegal to Be Me (BBC 1/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Tuesday 9th August 2022) ** PICK OF THE WEEK **

The Olympic diving champion investigates homophobic behaviour around the Commonwealth, travelling to some of the countries where homosexuality is a crime and even punishable by death. Daley talks to sportspeople facing persecution and advocates fighting for change, including Michael Gunning of Jamaica, India’s Dutee Chand and swimmers Theresa Goh (of Singapore) and Amini Fonua (of Tonga).

Changing Rooms (Channel 4/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Wednesday 10th August 2022) ** NEW SERIES **

The return of the home makeover challenge, which sees Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead joined by two new interior experts – sustainable designer Micaela Sharp and queen of retro Whinnie Williams. In the first show, Laurence and Whinnie bring their creative flair to Tunbridge Wells, where neighbours Eddie and Lotta and Charlotte and Stuart are transforming each other’s living rooms.

Shetland (BBC 1/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Wednesday 10th August 2022) ** NEW SERIES **

Douglas Henshall returns in the detective drama, based on the novels by Ann Cleeves. DI Perez and his team look into the secret past of a family new to Shetland when they report their vulnerable son Connor has gone missing. Parents Danny and Rachel are panicking as it turns out their son once attempted suicide – and when his scooter is found abandoned, a search is launched. However, the case takes an interesting turn when Perez discovers why the family moved to Shetland in the first place.

This Is My House (BBC 1/HD | 8:30pm to 9:00pm | Friday 12th August 2022)

The property-based guessing game sees four people all claiming to be Anita, the owner of an idyllic farm, complete with cows, goats, fancy pigeons and farmer husband John. The real Anita also happens to have the largest collection of royal memorabilia in the world, with over 7,000 items. It falls to panellists Judi Love, Richard Madeley, Harry Hill, Harriet Kemsley and Kadeena Cox to sort out the facts from the fiction.
