Can’t believe the End2End cycle was two years ago

Celebrating at Land’s End

I have just finished watching “Stand By Me” on blu-ray. I had forgotten just how good that film is. I would give it 10/10. I think it would make it into my top ten, if not top five films you have to watch in your life.  Think I will be singing the theme song to myself for the rest of the day. So I feel sorry for people that I work with tonight.

So moving on from “Stand By Me” it got be thinking about the End to End cycle that I did in August 2009. I can’t believe it was just 2 years ago. Where has the time gone? This time two years ago, I would have been in the car on the way up to Killearn, then off to the starting point in John O’Groats the next day. I still can’t believe I did the whole cycle. With all the things that happened at the same time, like getting dumped, during it. The more I think about the cycle, the more and more I want to do it again. I was hoping to do it again this year. But the people I was hoping to go with all pulled out. You may all by thinking, you have done it once. So why do you want to do it again? That’s easy, it was so much fun. I also want to show myself I can do it again. Also next time, I think I would enjoy it more, since I know I can do it.

So I am going to make sure I do it next year. Even if I have to do the whole thing myself, which I would not mind, since I did most of it by myself last time. Well other then the first five days, when I was still with Mike. Then later on when I meet up with some other lads, also doing the cycle. So big hello to Ben, Edward and Henry.

Left to right: Ben, Edward, myself and Henry

Ben, Edward and Henry helped more than they will ever know. They reminded me why I was doing the cycle again in the first place. It was also nice to have people to chat to again, cycling for 16 days and only having yourself to chat to most of the time, did get a bit boring after a while.

Also doing the end was a bit part of the life for a good number of years, well before doing the cycle. Since I had been planning it on and off for years. So when I got Land’s End I was over the moon. Think it was one a day, I will remember for the rest of myself. At the same time, very sad. Since it was a end of chapter. I did had not needed the money, I think I would have turned around and cycled all the way back to the start in John O’Groats.

Sorry I hope I have not bored you all to much. In what may be one of the longest blog posts I have ever done. To read about the End to End cycle that I did in 2009 check out www.endtoend-cycle.com.  I will of course also be using that website for next years CYCLE!

Bye for now! xx

July 2011 cycling statistics

Here are my cycling statistics for July.  My yearly total now stands at 3,250 miles. Total miles since April 2003 is now at 19,809.8. So that will be well over 20,000 by next month!

Here is the data from July 2011:-

  • Total cycles: 26
  • Total Distance: 758.85 miles
  • Total Time: 56:45:26 (h:m:s)
  • Avg Speed: 13.4 mph
  • Max Time: 5:13:16 (h:m:s)
  • Max Speed: 28.1 mph
  • Avg Distance: 29.19 miles
  • Max Distance: 70.02 miles

Data from: Garmin Connect.

So pleased with the amount of cycling I did last month. I did a record number of miles on the bike in once month, well that’s if you don’t count the End to End cycle month, back in August 2009.  So can’t believe it’s two years ago this month that I did it. I was really hoping to do it again this year, but people I was hoping to go with plugged out

Here are my favourite cycling photos from the month

Fun day at Alton Towers

Today I went to Alton Towers with a group of people from work (Peterborough Greyhound Stadium). It was a great day out, 10 of us went in total. But only 8 of us stayed together. It was so much fun. Don’t think I have ever got on so many rides. Most times I am lucky if I get ion 5 rides. So here in no order I all, since I can’t remember the correct order. I got on Nemesis (twice), Air, Oblivion (twice), Thirteen, Rita, Congo River Rapid and Hex. BTW Hex is crap!!! only went on it, 2 see if it was has bad, as everyone said and it was.

Below is a group photo of us all. They are some more photos kicking around that I need to get my hands on.
